Image Store is, in a nutshell, a database for storing images, for use on Bulletin Board systems such as vBulletin or phpBB. This is particularly useful for people who wish to display images on these forums, but don't have access to any web space to upload the images to.
Table of contentsOur Image Store was written by Ross "Crudmuffin" Poulton, but the idea was based on ideas coming from each of the contributors of UGBox.net. Image Store is therefore run and maintained by all current staff at UGBox.net.
For a list of all the UGBox.net contributors, see our people page.
Table of contentsThe Image Store only works on the Overclockers Australia and the UGBox.net forums. There are no forseeable plans to add to the list of valid referrers.
Table of contentsMost of us have been members at Overclockers Australia for a number of years, and after many hours of browsing the forums there, we've seen how disadvantaged some people are when they don't have any webspace to upload their images to. This is our attempt to solve that problem.
Table of contentsThe first step in using the Image Store is to upload your image to our database. This process is easy, simply load the page at http://imagestore.ugbox.net/, read the terms and conditions (if you haven't already), and in the Upload form, simply type in the local path and filename of the file you wish to upload. If you don't know the exact address, then you can simply hit the 'browse' button, and find the file yourself.
For example, if I wanted to upload the following image:

Then it would be a matter of typing in "e:\ups\ugbox\pic.jpg" (without quotes), or browsing my hard drive for the file.
The next two boxes are entirely optional, they're not necessary to fill out these boxes for your image. The first box is for your e-mail address. If you include this, Image Store will send you an e-mail containing all the link details for your image so you can link them again at any time without uploading it again, as well as other useful information. Note that if you fill in this field, the image database does not store your e-mail address, so UGBox.net does not keep a record of your e-mail address.
The second optional box is just a brief description of your image for your own use. The description you enter will appear in the subject line of the e-mail Image Store sends you.

Then it's just a matter of hitting "Send Image", wait a few seconds while your image uploads, and you're ready to link!

There's a number of ways you can link to the image you've just uploaded. When you upload the image, Image Store will also generate a thumbnail image, which is a smaller version of your image. Thumbnails are much safer for uploading on Bulletin Board systems, as the dialup viewers (like me!) won't yell at you for hogging their precious bandwidth with your huge image!
If you're using a vBulletin system, like the Overclockers Australia forums, then all you have to do is simply click on the "Select & Copy" link on the form that comes up, and paste it in to your post on the forum.
That's all there is to it! If you're posting it on the UGBox.net forums (or any other supported phpBB forums), you may need to use the manual links provided at the top of the generated page, as the phpBB system of images and links is much less comprehensive than that of vBulletin, and you many have to write some of the BBCode for the image yourself. There's some information on BBCode here.
Of course, you're also more than welcome to simply link to the large image and not use the thumbnail, just copy and paste the generated URL for the large picture and paste it in to your post using the appropriate image tags.
Table of contents The viewing process is simple. Open your eyes and look at it! :-) If you've linked your image on a system such as
Overclockers Australia's vBulletin by copying and pasting the generated URL, then a clickable thumbnail should appear
in your post. If you were to click on the thumbnail, it'll then load the full image in a new window.
We've added a little bit of advertising to our images, that's just so people learn about us and more people use our service.
